Plantscapes
We are always delighted to work with clients who are willing to push the brief and go that extra mile to be as planet conscious as possible in their projects. Find below examples of our plantscape installations and more details about our planet conscious approach in practice.
Our aim is to be as planet conscious as is possible in everything we do, this is the basis of symbiotic design, given the current constraints that is not always as achievable as we would like. We have some immediate wins and other initiatives that we are aiming for in the near future.
All of our schemes increase biodiversity net gains
We champion the use of sustainable and biofabricated materials in all the architectural elements of our installations
Our transport is by our eco partner in their fleet of electric vehicles
Where possible we source plants from UK suppliers and can trace their origin. Where this is not possible we use an accredited EU supplier that aligns their offer with sustainability principles.
Soil biome and plant health is a priority, we do not offer disposable high rotation planting schemes and design plant habitats that achieve optimum health
Natural seasonal cycles and indigenous planting is a priority in all of our schemes to enhance local biodiversity
All of our plants are delivered in sustainably sourced biodegradable coir pots made by a women's co-operative in Sri Lanka
Our hydro balls are made from baked earth
We only use natural pesticides, fertilisers and peat free soil
Our ceramics boxes, labels, envelopes, bags are all made from sustainably sourced recycled natural paper
Our ceramics padding is sustainably sourced wood wool and sustainably sourced hessian
Our inks are vegan and water based
We ask our clients to recycle any waste from the installation and to re-use and recycle our packaging as much as possible
Our staff are all paid a living wage, all good work deserves decent pay!
Future Initiatives are those that we have on our radar but that don’t currently have enough infrastructure to be provided consistently. We welcome anyone that wishes to collaborate on achieving these benchmarks either in their projects or through supply to contact us.
Native Species - we encourage our clients to use as many indigenous plants as possible. Of course this is more challenging in indoor schemes
Local Growers - where possible we source from local growers
Peat Free Plants - where possible we source peat free plants
Ethical Suppliers - we are working on a list of selected ethically minded suppliers and will propose these in schemes where possible
Plant Recycling - when any plants reach the end of their life cycle within an installation they will either be repurposed or composted
Thriving Environments - where a clients brief permits, we can install grow lights and watering systems to ensure their plants thrive in indoor spaces
