Alocasia yucatan princess
Alocasias come from tropical and subtropical regions in Asia to Eastern Australia, this variety is fairly new to the UK. Yucatan princess can grow up to 2 metres in height and have a spread of 1.5 metres when grown indoors. It has deep chocolate coloured stems with large greyish-green leather like leaves. Keep in a position of bright indirect light, close to a window with a lot of open sky above but no direct sunlight. Water when the top 5cm of soil dries out during the growing season, reduce watering in winter months but do not let the soil ever dry out completely. Use a well draining soil mixture with a good amount of organic compost.
